The Volkswagen up has brought quite a few award. Now the eco up with CNG drive overall winner of VCD Environmental Car List 2012/2013.

The eco up was named in the current list of Car Environment Transport Club Germany (VCD) as the overall winner 2012/2013. This was announced by the VCD, which each year selects the most environmentally friendly vehicles, in a press conference in Berlin. In addition to the gas-powered version of the new VW up there was another podium for Volkswagen: So the VW Touran TSI EcoFuel drove to second place in the category Best seven-seater.

Eco up emits 79g CO2/km

The VW up is impressive in two categories: one as the overall winner and also in the squad, “The best climate”. The CO2 emission is in addition to the pollution, the consumption and the noise level of the determining factor by which the candidates will be assessed in the VCD environmental list. The 50 kW / 68 hp eco up with economical, yet dynamic CNG consumes only 2.9 kg of natural gas per 100 kilometers, with CO2 emissions of 79 g / km. Thus, the small car is both ecologically and economically way ahead.

Other successes alongside the VW up

In addition to the winning eco picked up the VW Touran 1.4 TSI EcoFuel in the category of best seven-seater with a CO2 output of 128 g / km in second. But that’s not all: As a manufacturer Volkswagen was awarded the VCD with respect to its environmental efforts with a second place. Here, the VCD rated as details of production, controls the environmental and sustainability reports and analyzes the commitment to better environmental technology in the vehicles.
