A solar film to increase the autonomy of mobile phones

The lack of autonomy of smart phones is one of the criticisms usually used on these phones. This has prompted the company to design a Wysips solar film that can boost the autonomy of mobile phones.

Smartphones are similar in user interface and operating system while a desktop computer rather than a traditional phone with its comparatively rigid menu structure. Moreover, they allow the uploading of its own software - that has meanwhile called "Apps" enforced. A smartphone is now - especially since the introduction of the iPhone - usually with a touch screen equipped for the control of a finger, some devices offer a QWERTY keyboard. Occasionally there are also variants with a combination of the two input techniques - which increases the comfort. The used to often control the touch screen and stylus, however, is the way out

Indeed, this French company has just succeeded in making a film transparent solar, which once installed on the surface of a cell, acts as a solar panel. It sits on the smartphone screen without compromising tactile properties of the phone or on the display.

Microscopic photovoltaic strips are printed on film. So when the phone is exposed to light, it captures solar energy to charge its battery. Nevertheless, it is possible to load the phone with a light source other than the sun, a lamp.

The most interesting about this film solar is that it can be used with other portable devices such as reading lights and music players. Currently the effectiveness of this film would amount to a quarter of the photovoltaic cells.

This new technology has won first prize in the “Green Telecom & Smart Energy Solutions, Apps & Hardware” at CTIA 2011 in Orlando.
