According to apress release, Nintendo has confirmed that the Wii’s successor will be launched during the next fiscal year beginning 1 April 2012.
Nintendo announced its financial results yesterday, April 24, 2011 for its last fiscal year that ended last March 31. Nintendo revenues fell by 29.3% and 66.1% of its profits. The Japanese giant has taken the opportunity to reassure investors by announcing a successor to the Wii, which has passed 86 million units since its launch in 2006. During E3, which runs from June 7 to 9 this year, Nintendo plans to unveil a prototype of the new system, which will succeed consoles NES, SNES, N64, GameCube and Wii.
In recent weeks, the successor is the subject of wild rumors, but everything suggests it will be higher than the Xbox 360 and PS3 in terms of performance. Nintendo did not have much choice given that Microsoft and / or Sony could in turn provide new systems in 2014 or earlier.
