Last month, Toshiba announced that its Android Honeycomb tablet, Thrive would be officially launched in the U.S., said that customers interested in buying it should wait until mid-July.
However, it now appears that some Best Buy stores are now selling the tablet. According to a thread found in Thrive Forums, the tablet is available at Best Buy in Austin, Texas. Only versions of 16 and 32 GB of Thrive available (479.99 dollars and 579.99 dollars, respectively), but the 8 GB version coming soon (for 429.99 dollars).
The new tablet has a 10.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, Wi-Fi, GPS, audio jack 3.5 mm headphone jack, stereo speakers with SRS Labs sound enhancement, rear camera 5 megapixel, Front camera 2 MP, HDMI output, 1 GB RAM, dual-core processor NVIDIA Tegra 2, and microSD card support.
Toshiba Thrive will also be released in Canada sometime in August. There is simply called Toshiba Tablet, and their prices will be similar to the U.S. market.
