There is a week that the PlayStation Network, and the service Qriocity video on demand is down. Initially, there is a serious security problem. Sony’s network was targeted by an anonymous user who has triggered an attack.
The chronology shows the problem:
Wednesday, April 20: Sony said that an investigation is conducted into the failure that affects the PSN
Thursday, April 21: Sony reports that the re-establishment of the network could take a day or two
Friday, April 22: Sony talks for the first time an intrusion from outside. Judgments of PSN services and Qriocity (VOD) will continue because the firm must make an assessment of its security infrastructure.
Saturday, April 23: the company apologizes for any inconvenience and ensures that the re-establishment of the NSP and Qriocity is a top priority. Sony known as “reconstruction” of its system to enhance its security.
Monday, April 25: Sony has once again apologized for the time needed to rebuild the system, but no concrete information is given.
The firm has repeatedly held to clarify that the process took time, and not insignificant amount.
In a message published Tuesday, April 26 on the PlayStation corporate blog, the company acknowledges being the target of hackers.
“Although we are still currently investigating this incident, we believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the information that you provided: name, address (city, state, zip code), country, email address, date of birth, username and password, and nickname online”, they wrote. A little later, the company does not guarantee the security of credit card numbers!
The “network” may be paralyzed for a few more days.
