The iPhone Dev Team has introduced a new software that supports one of Untethered Jailbreak of iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone 4, iPhone 3G, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G and iPad with redsn0w 0.9.10b1. First “Untethered” means that will not restart after the jailbreak must be performed again.
The development of the tool was made possible after an exploit iOS developer @pod2g and found information about it just before Christmas, the iPhone Dev Team has made available. Users who have already provided their unit with a tethered jailbreak can do that with the tool “Corona 5.0.1 Untether” derived from the Chronic Dev Team and the Cydia Store is available to convert to an “untethered” versions. The use of redsn0w is not necessary in this case.
According to information @ pod2g now dedicated to find a weak point in the both iPhone 4S and iPad 2 (not yet supported devices) are based on the A5 processor, which is now found apparently immune to the gap that allows the jailbreak on devices with A4 processor. That with the next version of iOS that gap is closed, is not to be expected since the previous beta versions of IOS 5.1, according to @ pod2g still contain the vulnerability and the time for closing the leaks of Apple’s most likely too short.
The redsn0w jailbreak tool is available for Windows and Mac OS. With a so-called jailbreak factory restrictions of Apple devices are repealed. This addition to the official App Store is also available to the Cydia Store, which offers programs that did not permit the iPhone manufacturer for different reasons.
Apple itself is of the view that a jailbreak for the Digital Millennium Copyright Act violation and a violation of the licensing conditions. Moreover goes through a modification of the Apple phones warranty. However, if the manufacturer pursues his legal rights violated by the Jailbreaker, must be strongly doubted. Also honored the manufacturer of the iPhone jailbreak scene of developments by developers binds particularly clever in itself.
